Pool Mate Swimming Watch

'Great New Product.' "If the Pool-Mate had been around when I was breaking world records it would have been an essential part of my training" Nick Gillingham MBE, double Olympic medallist.
Allows you to focus on technique while you are in the water and worry about times later!
Here is a review of the poolmate from Shaw Method teacher Huseyin Dermis, courtesy of Huseyin and www.swimshawmethod.com
I like to get my moneys worth when I go to the pool and tend to do long swims incorporating different distance and stroke sets, writes Huseyin Dermis.
Its not too difficult to count the number of lengths in your head if you are just doing about 1,500 metres, but if youre looking to do a 3 km or a 5 km swim its difficult to keep track of all the laps going by. This is where the Poolmate comes in. As long as you are swimming in a pool longer than 10 metres, all you need to do is feed in the length of the pool, your body weight, and which wrist you are wearing the device on: it does the rest. It also has a chrono feature that will measure your time in an open water, running or cycling event.
Essentially the Poolmate is an onboard computer mounted on a waterproof wrist watch. I like the look of it and am happy to wear it as a watch out of the water. The weight is also good: its not heavy and doesnt add drag, which is important when working on your swimming.
I used it to count my lengths, and also the number of strokes taken for each length. You can check to see how your stroke rate differs when you are swimming for different distances, and compare your scores for different sets and different swims. Because it measures arm movements you can use it for all strokes.
The Poolmate has a powerful memory and can record statistics for up to 400 swim sessions.
It costs £69.99 and I think it is good value. I would definitely recommend it to people who are into training and spending an hour or so in the pool each visit.
